Google Translate's AI Update to Challenge Duolingo
Google is making its Translate app more like Duolingo by adding a new Practice Mode.
This mode will let you learn languages like French and Spanish in a fun way.
You can choose how good you are, from beginner to advanced, and practice things like asking for food or directions.
Google is also changing the app to make translations better, using its new Gemini AI to provide more accurate translations in certain modes, but also offers faster translations when accuracy isn't as important.
Google Translate will add a new 'Practice Mode' to compete with Duolingo.
Practice Mode offers personalized language lessons in French and Spanish.
Users select proficiency levels and practice scenarios like greetings or directions.
The app will introduce a model picker for translation accuracy and speed.
Gemini-powered 'Advanced' model focuses on accuracy, and a 'Fast' model prioritizes speed.
