India Launches Responsibility Nation Index
India created a new list called the Responsibility Nation Index (RNI) to rank countries based on how well they take care of their people and the environment.
This list is different from usual ones that only look at money or power.
Instead, it checks things like how healthy people are, how fair the government is, and how much countries help the planet.
Singapore is at the top, while India is 16th.
The list was made by smart people from India and was announced by a former president.
It's not about competition but about showing how countries can do better for everyone.
India launched the Responsibility Nation Index (RNI) to rank nations on ethical governance, social well-being, environmental stewardship, and global responsibility.
Singapore ranked first, followed by Denmark and Switzerland, while India ranked 16th among 154 nations.
The index measures nations based on 3 dimensions (Domestic, Planetary, International) and 7 themes, using 58 indicators like Life Expectancy and Maternal Mortality Rate.
The RNI was launched by former Indian President Ramnath Kovind on January 21, 2026, at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
The index aims to encourage ethical governance, humane development, and global stewardship, focusing on responsibility rather than competition.
