CM Sukhu focuses on rural development ahead of polls
Chief Minister Sukhu is focusing on helping poor families in rural areas of Himachal Pradesh.
He wants to make sure every family that needs help gets included in a special list called BPL.
This list helps families get benefits from the government.
The government is also working to finish important projects in villages, like building roads and community halls, before the local elections.
They have already finished many projects and plan to complete the rest soon.
The Chief Minister is making sure that no poor family is left out and that villages get the help they need.
Chief Minister Sukhu directed the start of the fourth phase of the BPL identification survey on February 1, 2026.
59,829 BPL families have been identified in the first three phases across various districts.
Eligible families include orphans, elderly households, families with disabilities, and those who worked under MGNREGA.
Pending rural development works, such as hand pumps and footpaths, must be completed within three months.
18,262 works were completed between October 2025 and January 15, 2026, with the remaining expected to finish soon.
