CBI Books FCI, NERAMAC Officials Over Subsidised Rice Diversion
The CBI has opened a case about government-subsidised rice.
The rice was supposed to be sold affordably to labourers, migrant workers and other eligible people in Delhi.
Investigators allege that it was instead passed to traders, who resold it for profit.
About 62,000 metric tons of rice was allegedly given to NERAMAC.
The rice was sold to NERAMAC at a lower price than the reported reserve price.
The CBI says this may have cost FCI about Rs 28.49 crore.
Investigators also allege that some records were created or changed to make the distribution look proper.
They say private entities collected commissions from traders.
These are allegations in an FIR and are not a final court finding.
The CBI registered an FIR alleging that subsidised rice meant for poor labourers and other Delhi consumers was diverted to traders for profit.
The case names senior officials of the Food Corporation of India and NERAMAC, along with private entities and traders.
FCI Delhi allegedly allocated about 62,000 metric tons of rice to NERAMAC between April 13 and May 15 under the OMSS(D) 2025-26 policy.
The rice was supplied at Rs 23,200 per metric ton against a reported reserve price of Rs 26,900, allegedly causing an FCI loss of about Rs 28.49 crore.
The FIR alleges policy violations, undue haste, false distribution records and backdated appointment letters intended to show that the rice reached beneficiaries.
