Tamil Nadu CM Accuses DMK Leaders of Contract Kickbacks

Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay accused leaders of the DMK of taking illegal payments from government contractors.

He said the payments were collected as party donations.

Vijay referred to documents from the Enforcement Directorate and older allegations involving the Sarkaria Commission and the Veeranam project.

He said contractors working for the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department allegedly paid 7.5% to 10% of project values.

DMK members loudly protested during his speech.

The Speaker said they could not reply at that point because of disruptions and posters displayed in the Assembly.

The members then left the Assembly and Udhayanidhi Stalin spoke to reporters outside.

Vijay also said his own party, the TVK, was not merely an actor’s party and had received 35% of the vote.
