Yarlagadda Urges Delay of Village Elections Before VMC Merger
Yarlagadda Venkata Rao, a local politician, asked the state chief minister to delay elections in nine villages.
These villages are in a district called NTR but belong to a different political area.
The plan is to merge them into the big city government of Vijayawada so they can get better water and toilets.
The chief minister said he will decide after the census.
The government has also promised a lot of money for roads, canals, and a new health centre.
Gannavaram MLA Yarlagadda Venkata Rao requests delay of gram panchayat elections in nine Vijayawada Rural villages pending merger with Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.
The villages—Ramavarappadu, Prasadampadu, Enikepadu, Nidamanuru, Gudavalli, Nunna, Pathapadu, P Nainavaram, Ambapuram—are in NTR district but fall under Gannavaram Assembly constituency in Krishna district.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has responded positively, with a decision to be made after the census process and potential inclusion in Greater Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.
Villages face long‑standing drinking water and sanitation issues, including high TDS levels, which merger aims to address.
Over Rs.100 crore has been sanctioned for development projects in Gannavaram constituency, including canal links, underpass expansion, bridge, and health centre upgrades.
