India's Tea Production Dips 5.9% in September 2025
Imagine India's tea-growing season.
In September of this year, the country produced less tea than it did last September.
The total amount of tea harvested went down by about 6 out of every 100 cups.
In Assam, a major tea-growing state, the amount produced stayed almost the same.
However, West Bengal saw a noticeable drop in its tea harvest.
The southern part of India also produced a little less tea.
These changes across different regions led to a smaller overall tea production for India in September.

Assam's tea production remained nearly stagnant in September 2025 at 94.76 million kg.
West Bengal saw a significant decline in tea production, dropping to 40.03 million kg in September 2025 from 48.35 million kg in the prior year.
North India's tea production (Assam and West Bengal combined) decreased to 138.65 million kg in September 2025.
