Political Tensions Rise in Thane
A leader named Sahar Shaikh from the AIMIM party won an election in Mumbra, a place in Thane.
After winning, she said she wanted to make all of Mumbra 'green' in the next five years, which means she wanted her party to win all the seats there.
Some people from the BJP party complained that her words were provocative and could cause trouble.
The police gave her a notice to be careful with her words.
She said her words were misunderstood and she just wanted to grow her party.
Another leader, Eknath Shinde, said that Mumbra is part of Thane and Thane is 'saffron,' meaning it supports his party.
He also said that his party will have mayors in many cities.
There is a lot of talking and negotiating between different parties to decide who will be in charge of important jobs in the city.
AIMIM corporator Sahar Shaikh received a notice for her remark about painting Mumbra green.
BJP delegation complained that her statement was provocative and could incite communal tension.
Police issued the notice under BNSS as a preventive measure for law and order.
Shaikh claimed her words were twisted and she meant to expand her party's political footprint.
AIMIM won five seats in the Thane Municipal Corporation elections, outperforming Congress and Shiv Sena.
