TASMA seeks export obligation extension
The Tamil Nadu Spinning Association (TASMA) has asked the Indian government to extend the time they have to export goods by two years.
They also want to reduce the amount they have to improve the value of their products before exporting.
This is because the US has put taxes on their products, and the world market is uncertain.
TASMA says this will help their industry, which uses a lot of labor and power, and make exporting more possible.
TASMA requested a 2-year extension of export obligation under the AAS.
The extension is sought to mitigate the impact of US tariffs and global market uncertainty.
Current export obligation period is 18 months with 15% value addition norm.
TASMA proposed reducing the value addition norm to 5% due to market conditions.
The association urged for the extension without payment of the composition fee.
