Indian Army to Merge Fitness Tests

Indian Army to Merge Fitness Tests

The Indian Army is planning to merge two physical fitness tests, the Battle Preparedness Efficiency Test (BPET) and the Physical Proficiency Test (PPT), into a single Combined Physical Test.

This new test will be held twice a year instead of every quarter.

The Combined Physical Test will include a 3.2-km run, climbing vertical ropes, traversing horizontal ropes, and push-ups and sit-ups for those below 45 years.

For those above 45, it will include a 3.2 km run or walk, push-ups, and sit-ups.

The tests will be graded as satisfactory, good, excellent, and super excellent.

The same test will be conducted for women personnel with minor differences in timing and intensity.

The new guidelines aim to reduce the number of tests and their frequency, allowing soldiers more time for other activities and reducing stress.
