UK Court: F-35 Exports to Israel Lawful; Group Challenges Ban
The UK High Court decided it was legal for the UK to continue sending F-35 parts to Israel, even though the UK knew these jets could possibly be used in ways that break international law.
A group called Al-Haq tried to stop this, saying it was against the law.
At the same time, another group called Palestine Action is challenging the government for wanting to ban them, claiming that it would impact freedom of speech.
However, the court said it was not their place to intervene because it was a political issue for the government since the parts are needed for national security.
This means the UK can keep sending parts.
UK High Court ruled the government's decision to allow F-35 exports to Israel was lawful.
Al-Haq challenged the decision, alleging breaches of international law.
Palestine Action initiated legal proceedings to challenge a government ban.
The group is seeking a court order to prevent the government from proscribing the group.
The court cited national security concerns and said the decision was a matter for the executive, not the courts.
