Ladakh Declares 52 Villages Along ALC as Reserved Areas
The Ladakh government has announced that people in 52 villages near the border can get special benefits, like help with getting jobs.
This follows an old law that was updated.
The government had a special group look at which villages should be included.
This group made a report, and now the government is putting it into action to give benefits to these villages.
Ladakh administration declared 52 villages along the Actual Line of Control (ALC) as reserved areas.
The notification enables residents to avail reservation benefits in recruitment and other sectors.
18 villages in Leh district and 34 in Kargil district are included.
The declaration follows the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, as amended by the Ladakh Reservation (Amendment) Regulation, 2025.
A commission identified the areas, with the final report submitted in December 2024.
