Azerbaijani police raid opposition leader's home
Police in Azerbaijan searched the home of Ali Karimli, the leader of a big opposition party, on Saturday.
This happened because of an investigation into a possible plan to remove the current president, Ilham Aliyev.
The government thinks Karimli might be getting money from Ramiz Mehdiyev, a friend of the former president.
Mehdiyev is currently under house arrest for trying to take over the government.
Karimli has been arrested many times before for organizing protests.
Azerbaijan is a country rich in oil and gas, and it has been criticized for not respecting human rights.
Police in Azerbaijan raided the home of Ali Karimli, leader of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party (APFP), on Saturday.
The raid is linked to an ongoing criminal case against Ramiz Mehdiyev, a longtime ally of former President Heydar Aliyev.
Mehdiyev is under four months of house arrest for charges including attempts to seize power.
Karimli has been arrested numerous times in connection with organizing protests in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan's State Security Service has not commented on the search.
