Judge Blocks Trump Mail-Voting Plan Ahead of Midterm Elections

Judge Blocks Trump Mail-Voting Plan Ahead of Midterm Elections

The Trump administration wants to change how mail-in ballots are sent.

The plan would require lists of voters who are allowed to receive ballots.

Judge Indira Talwani temporarily stopped the Postal Service from carrying out the plan.

She said states may not have enough time to follow the new rules before the 2026 midterm elections.

She also worried that many people could have trouble voting by mail.

The administration says the rules would help prevent fraud and make mail voting more consistent.

The judge said there was still no evidence of fraud in absentee or mail-in voting.

The administration may ask a higher court to review the decision.
