BMC EUS Tender Cancellation Draws Congress Leader’s Review Demand

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation planned to buy two special medical machines called EUS machines.

One machine would go to KEM Hospital and the other to LTMG Hospital.

These machines help doctors find some stomach, pancreas and cancer-related problems.

The planned purchase would cost about ₹5.53 crore.

Pentax Medical India Pvt.

Ltd.

was the only company that made a bid.

Congress leader Ashraf Azmi is asking officials not to cancel the tender without reviewing it.

He says cancellation could make patients wait longer for treatment.

He also says some patients may have to use private facilities, where the test can cost ₹35,000 to ₹40,000.
