Karnataka Plans Public School in Every Gram Panchayat
Karnataka wants every Gram Panchayat to have a Government-run public school.
There could eventually be nearly 6,000 of these schools.
Children would be able to study from LKG to class 12 in one place.
The schools would teach in Kannada and English.
This could help rural children who currently travel long distances between schools.
The state also wants children to learn about computers and eventually artificial intelligence.
Smart Boards, Smart TVs, and free textbooks are also part of the plans.
The government says it needs more teachers, computers, time, and funding to achieve these goals.
Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa proposed a Government-run Karnataka Public School in each of nearly 6,000 Gram Panchayats.
Karnataka had 309 Karnataka Public Schools when Bangarappa took office, with 1,000 more planned in coming years.
The schools aim to provide integrated education from pre-primary through class 12 in Kannada and English.
The government plans to introduce AI-related learning, compulsory computer education from Grade 1, and smart classroom technology.
Bangarappa said the ministry is working to recruit more than 70,000 teachers and address shortages of computers and other resources.
