China investigates emergency management minister for corruption
China's top corruption watchdog is investigating the country's emergency management minister, Wang Xiangxi, for suspected corruption.
This is part of a larger effort by President Xi Jinping to root out corruption among high-ranking officials.
Last year, there were a record 65 probes into senior officials.
Wang, who is 63 years old, became the minister in 2022 after working for a state-owned power company.
The investigation is relatively rare because it's targeting a sitting minister.
The watchdog didn't provide specific details about the allegations.
This comes after another high-profile investigation into the nation's top general, Zhang Youxia.
