Fresh ED Raids in CMRL-Exalogic Case Involving Pinarayi's Daughter
There are special investigators in India called the Enforcement Directorate who check whether money has been obtained in a wrong way.
They are looking into a company called CMRL and another smaller company called Exalogic Solutions.
Investigators think CMRL gave about Rs 2.78 crore to Exalogic Solutions while pretending it was payment for computer IT services.
Exalogic Solutions belonged to Veena, the daughter of former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The investigators searched many places in a city called Kozhikode as part of this check.
Earlier, in May and June, they also searched some places and asked Veena questions.
The searches are happening because investigators suspect money was moved around in a sneaky way, called money laundering.
Nobody has been proven guilty yet, and the investigators are still collecting information.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out fresh searches in Kerala as part of its money-laundering probe in the CMRL-Exalogic Solutions case.
Eight locations in Kozhikode are being covered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The action follows raids conducted against Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) in May.
The ED alleges CMRL made fraudulent payments of Rs 2.78 crore to Veena's now-defunct company Exalogic Solutions under the guise of IT consultancy services.
Veena, daughter of former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, was raided in June at a rented accommodation in Thiruvananthapuram and subsequently questioned.
