China's Innovation Push vs Economic Crisis: A High-Stakes Gamble

China's Innovation Push vs Economic Crisis: A High-Stakes Gamble

China is a big country that makes lots of new technology, like electric cars.

But China is also having money problems right now.

For a long time, China's economy grew by selling land and building lots of things.

That way of growing is now slowing down.

So China's leader, Xi Jinping, is trying a new plan: making money from new inventions and high-tech products.

Some things are making this hard, like people buying fewer electric cars and trade fights with other countries.

There is also a lot of debt owed by local governments.

Experts at a university say this is a big gamble or a race.

If the new inventions start making money before the old way fully fails, China will be fine.

Nobody knows for sure how the race will end.
