Supreme Court Directs Pilot Project Linking Vehicle Fuel to Insurance

Supreme Court Directs Pilot Project Linking Vehicle Fuel to Insurance

In India, there is a big court called the Supreme Court.

The court makes sure everyone follows the country's laws.

There is a rule that every car and bike on the road must have insurance.

Insurance is a promise that helps pay people if they get hurt in an accident.

But the court learned that more than half of all vehicles in India do not have insurance.

That means many people who get hurt in accidents don't get the money they need.

So the court came up with a new idea.

It asked officials to test a plan where petrol pumps would only give fuel to vehicles that have insurance.

If a vehicle has no insurance, it could not get fuel until its owner buys insurance.

The court hopes this will make more people get insurance and keep roads safer.
