Governor Anandiben Patel Turns Heat on Yogi Adityanath Government
In the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, there is a very important person called the Governor, and her name is Anandiben Patel.
A governor's job is to make sure the government is doing its work well.
Recently, the Governor went to visit universities, which are big schools for older students.
She noticed problems such as hostels where boys live not having proper dining halls.
She also saw that food for students was not always good and clean.
The Governor told the people in charge to fix these problems within three months.
She visited many cities, including Gorakhpur, which is the home city of the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath.
She said that even the shortcomings in his own city should be pointed out.
Some people think she is just doing her job, while others in the opposition party are using her words to criticize the government before the 2027 elections.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has publicly flagged shortcomings in universities, hostels and food quality under the state government.
At Gorakhpur University's 45th convocation on August 6, she questioned mess facilities and sanitation, giving officials a three-month deadline to correct the problems.
Patel questioned how such deficiencies could exist in Gorakhpur, the political stronghold of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
She also raised concerns at universities in Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi and criticised slow clearance of government files in Ayodhya.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav used her remarks to attack the BJP government ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
