RBI Announces Sovereign Gold Bond 2020-21 Series-I Premature Redemption Price

Imagine you bought a special kind of government savings bond that's tied to the price of gold.

This bond, called a Sovereign Gold Bond, was first sold in 2020.

Now, in 2025, it's time for people to get their money back, and they can choose to redeem it early.

The government's bank, the RBI, has figured out how much each bond is worth when cashed in early.

It's set at ₹12,198 for each unit.

This price is calculated based on the average price of pure gold over a few days recently.

When people first bought these bonds, they paid much less, around ₹4,589 to ₹4,639 per gram.

So, cashing them in now means people are getting back a lot more money than they paid.

These bonds were created to give people a way to own gold without actually holding the physical metal.
