Delhi Grants Exemption for Kirari-Rithala Drain Project
The Delhi government has given special permission for a big drain project between Kirari and Rithala.
This project will affect 84 trees.
Normally, the government can only give permission for projects that affect up to one hectare of land, but this project is bigger, so they made an exception.
However, the government said this doesn't mean they can cut or move the trees yet.
They will look at that part separately.
The permission was given because it's important for the city, and they will try to affect as few trees as possible.
Delhi government granted exemption for a trunk drain project from Kirari to Rithala.
The project affects 84 trees and covers 3.2 hectares, exceeding the one-hectare limit for tree-related permissions.
Exemption was granted under Section 29 of the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994, in public interest.
The exemption does not permit cutting or transplanting trees; those applications will be examined separately.
The notification included detailed geographical coordinates of the exempted area and was issued on January 1.
