NZ Cricket Chief Resigns Over T20 League Dispute
The boss of New Zealand cricket, Scott Weenink, has stepped down after a big disagreement.
He and some other important people in cricket had different ideas about a new cricket league called NZ20.
This league is supposed to bring in foreign investors and top players from other countries.
Many players and cricket groups in New Zealand support this new league, but Weenink preferred a different idea.
He thought New Zealand should join Australia's Big Bash League instead.
After two years as the boss, Weenink decided to leave because he didn't want to cause more problems.
He will finish his job on January 30.
Scott Weenink, NZC CEO, resigned due to a dispute over the proposed NZ20 T20 league.
The NZ20 league aims to attract foreign investment and top international players.
Players and member associations support NZ20, while Weenink preferred joining Australia's Big Bash League.
Weenink's resignation is effective January 30, 2024.
New Zealand is the only ICC full member nation without a franchise T20 league.
