Alcaraz Faces Intrusive Thoughts in U.S. Open Return

Carlos Alcaraz hurt his wrist and could not play tennis for almost five months.

At first, he could not use his right arm normally, which was difficult.

Later, he worried about whether he would return in time for important tournaments.

He called these worries intrusive thoughts.

The injury made him miss the French Open, Wimbledon and other events.

He recently played competitively again in mixed doubles with Serena Williams.

Now he is returning to the U.S. Open with little recent match practice.

He will try to defend his title against Roman Safiullin.

Jannik Sinner, one of Alcaraz’s biggest rivals, will miss the tournament because of a knee injury.
