Meghalaya-Assam Taxi Standoff Continues as Tourists Remain Stranded

Taxi drivers from Assam and Meghalaya are arguing about where their vehicles can travel.

Assam taxi operators have blocked a road leading to Shillong.

Meghalaya taxi representatives say they may stop their taxis at Jorabat too.

This has made travel difficult for tourists and families.

Assam government sources say more than 100 Assam vehicles are stuck in Sohra.

Many tourists are also reportedly stranded there.

Assam-registered taxis cannot currently enter Meghalaya.

Meghalaya commercial taxis have also reportedly been stopped near Umiam Lake.
