Calcutta High Court Hears Congress Candidate’s Interim Bail Plea

Milan Pradhan is the Congress candidate for an election in Nandigram.

He was arrested in connection with several criminal cases from 2007.

He asked the Calcutta High Court to release him temporarily so he could campaign.

The state government opposed his request.

It said the cases include accusations of murder and attempted murder.

Pradhan’s lawyer said he would follow any rules set by the court.

Justice Tirthankar Ghosh listened to both sides and reserved his decision.

The election is scheduled for October 6, and counting is scheduled for October 9.
