US Announces Economic D-Day as Iran Threatens Oil Export Halt

The United States says it is preparing a very large financial campaign against Iran.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called this campaign an “economic D-Day.”

He said the goal is to stop money and other economic support from reaching Iran’s government.

Bessent also said the US had already badly damaged Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities.

Iran disagrees with the US approach and calls it economic war.

Mohsen Rezaei warned that Iran could stop oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.

He said countries helping the US campaign could be treated as committing an act of war.

Iranian officials also criticized or mocked the proposed sanctions, while President Donald Trump urged allies to isolate Iran.
