Delhi HC Directs Govt to Appoint Inquiry Officer for Suspended Tihar Officials
Imagine a big jail called Tihar where some jail guards were accused of taking money from prisoners unfairly.
This is like a bully taking lunch money.
Because of this, nine guards were suspended, which means they can't work for now.
A court in Delhi, which is like a judge for the whole city, told the government that it needs to quickly find a special person to investigate these accusations.
The court thinks it's not good to keep the guards suspended for too long without a proper investigation.
The government promised to find this investigator soon, hopefully in about two weeks.
This investigation will help figure out if the guards really did anything wrong.
Delhi High Court ordered the Directorate of Vigilance to appoint an inquiry officer for nine suspended Tihar jail officials.
The officials are accused of running an extortion racket within the prison in collusion with inmates.
The court directed the DoV to make the appointment preferably within two weeks.
The Home department assured the court that it is actively pursuing the appointment of the inquiry officer.
The delay in proceedings was due to the absence of an inquiry officer since the officials' suspension in August.
