Sadiya Potato Farmers Protest Market Failure

Sadiya Potato Farmers Protest Market Failure

Farmers in Sadiya, Assam, are very upset because they are not getting a fair price for their potatoes.

They say it costs them Rs 60 per kg to grow potatoes, but they can only sell them for Rs 7 per kg.

This is making them lose a lot of money, and some have even taken loans to grow potatoes.

They think there is a big group controlling the prices and are asking the government to do something about it.

The farmers also say that potatoes from other states are being sold in Assam, which is making it even harder for them to sell their potatoes.

They protested by putting their potatoes on the road and stopping traffic for three hours.

They want the government to create a special market just for farmers in Tinsukia.

They say the government has promised to help farmers, but nothing has changed.

They are going to protest more if the government does not listen to them.
