Delhi HC Directs Judge to Pronounce MCOCA Verdict
A man named Parvesh Mann was tried under the MCOCA law in Delhi.
The trial ended in July 2025, but the judge who handled the case was transferred before announcing the verdict.
A new judge was supposed to hear the final arguments again, but the Delhi High Court said this was unfair and directed the original judge to announce the verdict within 2-3 weeks.
The High Court said that making the accused go through another round of arguments would cause unnecessary delay and prejudice.
The High Court also noted that the judge who was transferred did not follow the rules about announcing verdicts after a transfer.
Delhi High Court directed a sessions judge to pronounce the verdict in a MCOCA case within 2-3 weeks.
The trial of accused Parvesh Mann concluded on July 4, 2025, but the verdict was not pronounced due to the judge's transfer.
The High Court set aside an order that directed final arguments to be heard again by a new judge.
The High Court noted that the transferred judge did not comply with the Chief Justice's order to pronounce judgments within 2-3 weeks of transfer.
The prosecution argued that the judgment was delayed due to required clarifications from the investigating officer.
