Mammootty Plays Doctor Facing Sedition Charges in Padayaatra
Padayaatra is a new Malayalam film directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
Mammootty plays a doctor who helps people in a village and nearby forests.
The trailer shows him believing that people, rather than times, must change.
Villagers wonder how the doctor has so much money.
After a suspected Maoist attack, police begin investigating what happened.
They also question the doctor and shine a light on his face.
The trailer suggests he could be accused of sedition, a serious legal charge.
Mammootty said the story was inspired by a real doctor he met in Wayanad.
The film brings Mammootty and Gopalakrishnan together again after many years.
The trailer presents Mammootty as a doctor working among villagers and treating patients.
A suspected Maoist attack prompts a police investigation that includes the doctor.
The trailer hints that the doctor may face charges extending to sedition.
Padayaatra reunites Mammootty with filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan after their previous film Vidheyan.
Mammootty said the film was inspired by a doctor he met in Wayanad who treated forest communities.
