NHAI Denies Road Cave-In on Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said a video showing a damaged part of the new Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway was not a cave-in but just a small surface issue.
They fixed it quickly.
Some people on social media and a political party said it shows poor construction.
NHAI said such small problems can happen on long roads.
The expressway, which cost Rs 4,700 crore, was opened by important leaders.
It aims to make travel between Lucknow and Kanpur faster and easier.
NHAI clarified that a viral video showed only a slippage in the upper surface of the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, not a cave-in.
The affected stretch was about 40 metres and was repaired within hours.
NHAI Project Director Nakul Prakash Verma stated that such technical issues can occasionally arise on long asphalt roads.
A video of the damaged portion was first shared by a local Samajwadi Party worker, raising concerns about construction quality.
The 63-km expressway, inaugurated on July 13, aims to reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion.
