Ghana's Cocoa Arrivals Surge Due to Early Season Start
Ghana has started its cocoa season early, two months ahead of schedule, to help cocoa farmers.
This resulted in a large increase in the amount of cocoa being delivered.
In August, more than four times the amount of cocoa was delivered compared to the same time last year.
The government also raised the price paid to farmers for their cocoa beans.
This move, along with a new funding model, is intended to prevent farmers from smuggling their beans to other countries.
While global cocoa prices remain high, the increased supply from Ghana may help to ease the shortage.
Ghana's cocoa deliveries to warehouses in August increased significantly.
The early start to the cocoa season provided early cash to farmers.
Ghana raised the price it pays farmers for cocoa beans by 4.2%.
The market is closely watching West African cocoa supplies.
Ghana forecasts a larger cocoa crop for the 2025-26 season.
