Swami Sarvapriyananda Says AI Apocalypse Is Unlikely

Swami Sarvapriyananda was asked whether very advanced AI could harm or destroy humanity.

He said that outcome is unlikely.

He explained that today's AI can do some jobs very well but still struggles with other things.

He believes AI that can do many different kinds of tasks like people is still a long way off.

He referred to ideas from philosopher Nick Bostrom about how people and AI might treat each other.

Sarvapriyananda also spoke about the Vedantic idea that everything is part of a larger reality.

He said powerful AI could cause trouble for a while.

Still, he believes humanity would eventually move forward.
