PM Modi Links Ease of Justice to Business and Living, Highlights Legal Aid Reforms
Imagine a playground where some kids get to play right away, but others have to wait a very long time for their turn.
Prime Minister Modi said that making it easy to do business and live happily in India is only possible if it's also easy for everyone to get justice.
He explained that the government has been working to make justice faster and more reachable for everyone, especially those who don't have much money.
They have used things like special courts called Lok Adalats to help solve lots of problems quickly and without costing too much.
A special program has also helped solve many criminal cases.
Modi also said that talking things out and finding a solution together, like mediation, is an old Indian tradition that is now being updated with new laws.
Technology is also helping to make courts easier to access.
He believes that when justice is fair and reaches everyone, it builds a fair society.
Prime Minister Modi stated that ease of doing business and living is contingent upon the ease of justice.
He inaugurated the National Conference on 'Strengthening Legal Aid Delivery Mechanisms' at the Supreme Court.
Millions of disputes have been resolved quickly and affordably through Lok Adalats and pre-litigation settlements.
The Legal Aid Defence Counsel System has resolved approximately 800,000 criminal cases in three years.
