Sensex, Nifty Open Weak Amid Oil Prices, Global Cues
On August 13, 2026, India's stock market started the day a little weak.
The Sensex and the Nifty are the names of India's main stock markets, and both opened lower than before.
When markets open lower, it means investors are feeling a bit worried.
One reason for the worry is the price of oil, which people are watching closely.
The United States and Iran are saying different things about who controls the Hormuz waterway, and that can affect oil prices.
The Indian rupee, which is India's money, also became a tiny bit weaker against the US dollar.
Most groups of companies in the market went down at the start of trading.
But not everything went down.
Companies that make cars and other vehicles did better, and so did some smaller companies in the Nifty Smallcap list.
So, it was a slightly worried and mixed start to the day for Indian stocks.
The Nifty and the Sensex began trading on a weak note on August 13, 2026.
The Nifty opened at 24,431.60 and the Sensex opened at 78,111.91.
Brent Crude oil prices remained in focus after the US and Iran exchanged opposing claims over Hormuz control.
The Indian rupee opened at 95.36 to the dollar versus Wednesday's close of 95.33.
All sectoral indices traded under pressure besides auto and Nifty Smallcap firms in early trade.
