MSRTC Faces ₹5 Crore Compensation Burden from Pune Bus Accidents
In the financial year 2025-26, there were many accidents involving MSRTC buses in Pune.
These accidents hurt 168 people and sadly, 24 people died.
The MSRTC had to pay almost ₹5 crore to the families of those who died and to those who were injured.
This money is for helping the victims and following court orders.
The MSRTC is trying to make buses safer by giving drivers better training and health check-ups.
But paying so much money for accidents is also a big financial problem for them.
24 people died and 168 were injured in MSRTC bus accidents in Pune during 2025-26.
Total compensation paid was ₹4.98 crore, including ₹16.57 lakh for immediate assistance.
₹4.82 crore was paid to legal heirs of deceased victims and those with serious injuries.
MSRTC is implementing safety measures like driver training and health check-ups to reduce accidents.
Reducing accident rates could save lives and lower the corporation's compensation expenditure.
