Apple Reportedly Cancels Ambitious Large Foldable MacBook Project
Apple was reportedly developing a very large computer that could fold.
Its screen would have measured about 16.1 to 20 inches when opened.
The device was meant to combine ideas from an iPad and a MacBook.
A research company called Omdia now says Apple has cancelled the project.
The project was once considered important to John Ternus.
Ternus became Apple’s chief executive earlier this week, according to the article.
Apple has not confirmed that the project was cancelled.
Apple also has not confirmed whether it will announce a foldable product at its September 9 event.
Omdia reportedly says Apple cancelled a 16.1-inch to 18-inch foldable MacBook project.
The device was envisioned as an iPad-MacBook hybrid with a large flexible display.
Earlier reports described the unfolded screen as roughly 18 to 20 inches.
Mark Gurman previously called the project a priority for John Ternus.
Apple has not confirmed either the reported cancellation or a foldable product launch.
