Navi Mumbai Prepares 189 Immersion Sites, Urges Eco-Friendly Visarjan
Navi Mumbai is getting ready for Anant Chaturdashi, when many people say goodbye to their Ganesha idols.
The city has prepared 189 places where idols can be immersed.
Most of these are artificial ponds made by the civic administration.
People have been asked to use nearby artificial ponds for idols up to six feet tall.
This helps protect natural lakes and other water bodies.
Larger idols will be handled with rafts, cranes and forklifts at selected locations.
Workers, volunteers, lifeguards, firefighters and police will help keep people safe.
The civic body is also asking residents to separate flowers and other offerings so they can be processed properly.
