Mass Education Movement Reshaped Tripura's Politics
A long time ago, some leaders started a big education movement called Jana Shiksha Andolan in Tripura.
They opened 400 schools, especially in areas where tribal people lived.
This helped the Communist party, called the Left Front, to form the government in 1978.
The movement changed how people in Tripura thought about education and their culture.
Now, some people are saying that other groups are trying to change the education system in ways that might not be good for the tribal people.
One leader, Jitendra Chaudhury, is criticizing these changes and also the BJP for trying to add their own ideas to the education policy.
Jana Shiksha Andolan, founded in 1948, established 400 schools in tribal areas of Tripura.
The movement boosted the Communist movement, leading to the formation of the Left Front government in 1978.
CPI(M) leader Jitendra Chaudhury accused the Manikya dynasty of depriving tribal people of basic education.
Chaudhury criticized the Tipra Motha Party for introducing Roman script for the Kokborok language and English medium in schools.
Chaudhury also criticized the BJP for injecting Hindutva ideology through the National Education Policy (NEP).
