VSP to Restart Third Blast Furnace to Boost Steel Output
The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) is getting ready to restart its third blast furnace.
This will allow them to make a lot more steel, about 2.5 million tonnes more each year!
Right now, they make 5 million tonnes a year.
The government is also helping out by giving them a lot of money to help the plant get better.
The plant needs to make sure they have enough materials to keep the furnace running.
A union leader wants the plant to rehire workers and keep all the furnaces running.
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) plans to resume operations of its third blast furnace by the end of the month.
The third furnace is expected to add 2.5 million tonnes to the annual steel production.
Currently, two furnaces are operational, producing 5 million tonnes of steel per annum.
A ₹11,500 crore package was cleared by the union government in January for the plant's revival.
CITU leader Ayodhya Ramu requested sufficient raw material and the reinstatement of contract workers.
