PSU Banks Outperform in Slowing Credit Growth
In the last financial year, banks in India didn't lend as much money as before.
But, the government-owned banks did better than the privately-owned banks.
They gained more of the market.
These government banks were careful with their money and focused on helping businesses, especially in the countryside.
They also started doing well in areas they weren't known for before, like helping factories.
Indian banks' credit growth slowed in FY25.
Public Sector Banks (PSBs) gained market share over Private Banks (PVBs).
PSBs showed stability, using their balance sheets cautiously.
PSBs led in industrial credit, a segment where they weren't previously specialized.
PSBs dominated incremental credit in rural and semi-urban areas.
