Congress Plans Hyderabad Protest Over Undisclosed SIR Notice List
The Congress wants officials to publish a list of voters whose records may have problems.
This list is connected to a review of Telangana’s voter records called the SIR.
Congress leaders say nearly 93 lakh voters have been flagged.
They say political parties need the list to help voters fix possible mistakes.
The party plans to protest at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad.
Its district president asked why the Chief Electoral Officer has not released the information.
He said some other states and regions have published similar lists.
He also warned that he may start a hunger strike if the information is still not released.
The Congress will hold a protest at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad demanding public disclosure of voter lists linked to the ongoing SIR.
Congress district president Syed Khalid Saifullah said nearly 93 lakh Telangana voters had been flagged but the lists were not shared with political parties.
The Congress said booth-level agents cannot assist affected voters without access to the flagged names and reasons.
Saifullah cited public disclosures in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry and parts of Uttar Pradesh as examples of greater transparency.
He warned that he would begin a hunger strike if the lists remained undisclosed after the protest.
