Maharashtra Passes Bill for Farmers
The Maharashtra government passed a new law to help farmers with disputes over farm access roads and rights-of-way.
The law allows notices to be sent by post or email, provides police protection to farmers if someone doesn't follow the court's orders, and gives more powers to local officers.
Some farmers and leaders, like Raju Shetti, say the law is not enough because it doesn't address the issue of measuring land accurately.
They believe measuring land would reduce disputes and make the courts' work easier.
The law was welcomed by many lawmakers who think it will make the courts work faster and be more transparent.
Maharashtra Assembly passes the Mamlatdar’s Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to resolve farm access road disputes.
Bill allows notices via post or email, mandates police protection for farmers, and extends powers to Sub-Divisional Officers.
Raju Shetti criticizes the bill as half-hearted, demanding land measurement to settle disputes.
MLAs welcome the amendments, calling them farmer-friendly and effective in expediting justice.
Bill aims to make Mamlatdar courts faster, more transparent, and protective of farmers' rights.
