India Recovers Gems, Courts Address Social & Trade Issues
Imagine some old and very precious gems, the Piprahwa Gems, were taken from India a long time ago.
Now, they're finally coming back!
An industrialist bought them and the government is helping to bring them back home to show in a museum, so everyone can see them and learn their story.
Also, the government is making sure women are safe at work.
In other news, a court case looks at whether a certain group can marry people safely, and in the business world, a leader is making trade with other countries difficult.
The Piprahwa Gems, unearthed in 1898, have been returned to India.
The gems were originally excavated from a Buddhist stupa in Uttar Pradesh.
An industrialist, Pirojsha Godrej, acquired the collection of 349 gemstones.
The Ministry of Culture and the Archaeological Survey of India were involved in the repatriation.
Godrej will loan a portion of the collection to the National Museum for five years.
