Kumble Marks 36 Years Since Debut, Recalls First Test Wicket
Anil Kumble is a famous cricket player from India.
He is a bowler, which means he throws the ball to try to get batters out.
Thirty-six years ago, he played in his very first international game for India.
That game was against England in Manchester.
His very first wicket was Allan Lamb.
Kumble played for many years and got more wickets than any other Indian player ever.
He took 619 wickets in Test matches, the longest form of cricket.
He also took all ten wickets in one innings, something only one other player in history had done.
He later coached the Indian team and was put into the Cricket Hall of Fame.
Kumble said his journey was truly special and he is grateful for everyone who was part of it.
Anil Kumble marked 36 years since his international debut for India against England in Manchester on August 9, 1990.
He recalled taking Allan Lamb's wicket as his first international scalp, calling it the start of a 'truly special journey'.
Kumble finished with 619 Test wickets in 132 Tests, the most by an Indian bowler, plus 337 ODI wickets for a record 953 international wickets.
He is only the second cricketer after Jim Laker to take all 10 wickets in a Test innings, a feat he achieved against Pakistan in Delhi in 1999.
Kumble, who served as India's head coach from 2016 to 2017, was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2015.
