China Launches Arctic Express Route
China has started a new shipping route called the Arctic Express.
It goes from China to Europe through the Arctic, which is much faster than other routes.
The first ship, called the Istanbul Bridge, took only 18 days to go from China to the UK.
This new route is safer and better for the environment because it reduces carbon emissions by about 50%.
It also helps businesses by cutting down on inventory needs and costs.
The Arctic is becoming more important for trade as the ice melts, making these routes possible.
India is also interested in the Arctic and has its own research station there.
India wants to use these new routes to improve trade and connectivity.
China launched the world's first China-Europe Arctic Express route in September 2024, reducing shipping times to 18 days.
The Arctic Express route is safer, more stable, and reduces carbon emissions by approximately 50% compared to traditional routes.
The route cuts business inventory needs by 40% and lowers capital costs.
India has a permanent Arctic research station in Svalbard, Norway, and is interested in using Arctic sea routes for improved connectivity.
India is exploring various trade corridors, including the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the Chennai-Vladivostok Maritime Corridor, to enhance trade and logistics.
