MPs Raise Heritage Fire Safety and Organic Certification Issues in Parliament
Two MPs from Madhya Pradesh spoke in Parliament about important problems.
One MP, Kavita Patidar, talked about how old markets in cities like Indore, Varanasi, and Delhi's Chandni Chowk are at risk of fires because of old buildings and narrow streets.
She suggested creating a special fund for fire safety and using new technology like drones to prevent fires.
The other MP, Digvijaya Singh, said there is cheating in the process of certifying organic crops.
He claimed that some people are making fake farmer groups and selling regular crops as organic for higher prices.
He also said that the system to track these crops is not working well and needs to be fixed.
Both MPs want the government to take action on these issues, but there was no immediate response.
Kavita Patidar (BJP) highlighted fire risks in historic markets like Indore's Sarafa Bazaar, Varanasi, and Delhi's Chandni Chowk.
She proposed a 'Heritage Fire Safety Fund' and innovative solutions like firefighting drones and aerosol-based extinguishing systems.
Digvijaya Singh (Congress) alleged corruption in APEDA's organic certification process, with fake farmer groups selling inorganic crops as organic.
He claimed that delayed upgrades to the traceability system (TraceNet 2.0) and reliance on fake documents perpetuate irregularities.
Both MPs demanded government intervention, but no immediate response was recorded during the session.
