Mizoram Congress Chief Says Party Is Regaining Support
Mizoram Congress leader Lal Thanzara said his party is gaining support again.
He said people may want Congress to return to power.
He pointed to past programs, including giving out tin roofs and starting a land-use policy, as examples of promises the party kept.
He expects Congress to do well in the 2029 national election.
He also said some people see Rahul Gandhi as a possible prime minister.
Thanzara criticized the BJP-led government and accused it of weakening democratic freedoms.
He made claims about a cancelled visit by Amit Shah and possible links between the BJP and Mizoram’s ruling party.
Congress supporters later marched in Aizawl as part of a “Black Day for Democracy” observance.
Mizoram Congress chief Lal Thanzara said the party was regaining public support in Mizoram and across India.
He cited the distribution of tin roofs and implementation of the New Land Use Policy as examples of the party fulfilling commitments.
Thanzara predicted a strong Congress showing in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and said people were looking to Rahul Gandhi as a potential prime minister.
He accused the BJP-led government of undermining democratic freedoms and said its continued rule could endanger religious minorities; these were his claims.
Thanzara alleged that a planned visit by Amit Shah was linked to closer ties between the BJP and the ruling Zoram People’s Movement; the visit was cancelled.
